'The Minimal Gesture' was my degree show project and looks into how everyday gestures can be used as powerful tools of communication. The project also investigates how gestures can be used to explore a relationship, in this case a romantic one as well as a maternal one. The project explores wider social, political and cultural contexts surrounding race, stemming from being involved in an interracial relationship. Whereas the lighter images explore my relationship with my mother and how it has evolved as we both got older. The latter were taken during the pandemic and are a product of me having to move back home and adapt my practice accordingly to comply with lockdown rules.
